MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2006--FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), the premier developer of adaptive data protection solutions, announced today it was recognized by CMP Media's VARBusiness magazine as one of North America's top information technology companies for the partnership programs it offers to solution providers selling its products and services to end users. FalconStor was certified as a Five-Star Partner, acknowledging the company's commitment to and the strength of its programs for IT integrators, resellers and consultants.

In the overall selection process, more than 250 companies were assessed by the level of channel leadership within each company, percentage of revenue derived from the channel, investments in channel programs and communications with partners, and velocity of sales through partners. Only 70 companies received the coveted five-star rating in the magazine's 12th annual Partner Programs Guide survey. The guide will appear in the March 20, 2006 issue of VARBusiness.

"What we found after examining many applicants is that partnering has become a priority for nearly every major IT company today and the competition for the award was intense," said VARBusiness editor Lawrence M. Walsh. "We applaud companies like FalconStor, who have demonstrated best practices and achieved leadership roles within the IT distribution channel through aggressive partner programs. They should be proud of their innovations and the value they deliver to end-user customers through their channel partnerships."

FalconStor's award-winning storage virtualization, continuous data protection (CDP), disaster recovery, and virtual tape library (VTL) solutions are offered through major OEMs, system integrators, and resellers, and are deployed worldwide by governments, educational institutions, and Fortune 1000 enterprises across industries including aerospace, energy production, financial services, healthcare, law, manufacturing, and telecommunications.

FalconStor's Partner Program is designed to help its partners achieve leadership roles in the storage networking infrastructure market, expand existing business, increase revenue opportunities and maximize profitability. The program offers the fundamental tools for success, including training, marketing support and sales leads, technical assistance and a dedicated partner portal.

"We are very pleased to have earned this Five-Star Partner award from a well-respected publication like VARBusiness," said Wendy Petty, vice president of North American sales, FalconStor. "From its inception in 2000, FalconStor has maintained a channel-only model, and to enhance our value-added services to channel partners we have created a unique program that offers high margins and a wide variety of benefits. This strategy has been very successful for both FalconStor and its partners, and we're honored to have our efforts validated through the Five-Star Partner award."

"FalconStor's partner program has proved to be more than just a distribution channel system," said Greg Knieriemen, vice president, Chi Corporation. "They recognize that delivering storage networking solutions requires an understanding of many different technologies and the knowledge and expertise to implement them. FalconStor provides resources for co-marketing activities, comprehensive training, and dedicated sales and technical resources to create a much deeper partnership between our organizations."
