I rarely take exception to what people post here or on any other thread. But my perception is that you're peddling a line on this thread to scare a few people over into amd and cyrix to boost your personal gain. Another perception is that you try to sell your credibility by appearing pious and bashful about talking about personal gains. Albert, I hope I am incorrect but if I'm not what you are doing is very unethical.

The amd/cyrix threads have a fortress mentality. It's them against intel and they feel they must slay the dragon to be successful. The point is that all three companies can be successful by expanding the total pie. Intel and Andy Grove have done this and amd/cyrix owe a lot of credit to them for it. Paul Engel recognizes this and invest(s)(ed) in all three.

I believe the k6 will help amd. What I don't believe is that it will seriously erode intel's profits. Even if they get some business from a 1st tier producer, such as compaq, compaq's been down that road before only to return to intel Hat-in-Hand. Imho, intel will remain a growth company for some time with but a few bumps in the road.
