Should the living inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper not still have the right to control use of his creative efforts?

Yes, however, in the case of the intermittent windshield wiper, someone has surely improved on the product such that the patent is no longer of importance.

My point is that there are totally different concepts behind Patents vs. Copyrights. I believe a patent can be effectively invalidated by making only minor improvements, whereas an item subject to copyright is not the same item if minor changes are made to it. Again, this isn't an area I know much about, and I don't even suggest it is logical or correct. I just think they are conceptually different.
