Elmer,

Re:
#1 Intel gave AMD the 8086.
#2 Intel gave AMD the 80186/8.
#3 Intel gave AMD the 80286.

Why in the world did *ntel offer such a thing to AMD in the first place? Wasn't *ntel was required to have that "Second Source"? Didn't AMD have a purpose in *ntel's plans?

Re:Intel got nothing of value in return.

Looking at *ntel today, it seems they got quite a lot in return. Without a doubt, *ntel found itself in a position of great opportunity and they deserve 100% of the credit for being in that position. But, they needed AMD in order to get that "big break", and willfully offered AMD all that you mention above. Think of AMD's presence in the '80s as the price of that "big break".

Its later when *ntel no longer needs AMD (use 'em and lose 'em) and how *ntel goes about getting rid of AMD that trouble feelings begin. There must have been a better way for *ntel to have handled the situation but to paraphrase your words, Intel gave AMD...the boot.

Its amazing that AMD survives all this and is now back at your door as the proud owner of the Athlon.

Don't you find it strange that you Elmer are here on the AMD thread defending *ntel and telling the droids about "Jerry's vendetta"? Is it really "Jerry's vendetta" that bothers you or your own understanding of *ntel's past? Remember what I said in my previous post, deceit has a way of finding its origins.
