RE > led by a man that was calling himself Jesus Christ,<< no
tahts what they wanted to hear. They needed an excuse so they
invented one. I'm no great shakes but like they say there is
a wrench to fit every nut. I saw I could have handled Koresh
well I'm 99% sure and if not I would have got him alone for
a minute and tossed him out a window.
I think Koresh really wanted to be a rock star more than anything
else , in time they would have worked things out.

Who Were the Branch Davidians?

Immediately after the ATF assault on Mount Carmel the Federal
Government began a campaign of vilification against the Branch
Davidians. They were repeatedly portrayed in the press as
dangerous, insane, bloodthirsty fanatics.
------
Yet this supposedly
sociopathic sect had lived peacefully in and near Waco for over
half a century.
Let's see what their neighbors have to say about the
Davidians.

Collective Impressions

According to the Houston Post, Gene Chapman, owner of Chapman's
Fruit Market, has nothing but kind words for the Davidians.
"They're just all nice, decent, normal people," he said. "Well, not normal."
[30]
A.L. Dreyer, an 80-yr-old farmer, owns a ranch adjoining the Mt. Carmel property. "I've never had no trouble with them
people," he said. "I've always said if they stay on their side of the fence, I'll stay on mine... I have no fear of those
people." [31]
The ATF's "storm trooper tactics" were "a vulgar display of power on the part of the feds," said former Waco District
Attorney Vic Feazell. Feazell unsuccesfully prosecuted seven
Branch Davidians in 1988. "We treated them like human beings, rather
than storm-trooping the place," he told the Houston
Chronicle. "They were extremely polite... They're protective of what's theirs..." [12]

"They were basically good people," said McLennan County Sheriff
Jack Harwell. "All of 'em were good people." [59]

Henry McMahon, a former Waco resident and gun store owner,
described David Koresh as a likable guy. "There was nothing out of the ordinary (about Koresh's personality)," McMahon said, adding that Koresh was "an average Joe." [41,43]

"He (Koresh) is a very gentle man," said a Waco doctor who had treated
Koresh for three years prior to the ATF assault. "He is very intelligent and articulate. They made him sound like a
ruthless killer and that's just absurd." [18]

Gary Coker, a Waco lawyer, said he believed Koresh wouldn't hurt
anyone unless he was bothered by outsiders.
---------------
You see his neighbors didn't think of him as being so bad,
there were a few disenchanted people that got ran off that
spread a lot of garbage , most of them wanted to take over
or were just up to no good, and actually the grope wanted
them out.
You said escape ? hell anyone could visit, and or leave any
time , up till the ATF showed up..
Did you know that when some of them did come out on their
own they were flash banged and turned back in ?
---------------

The guns were as much as a side line as anything, in fact most of the
guns were off at a gun show the day the ATF showed up.
They spent more time banging on guitars and drums than they
did playing with the guns. I think the guns gave them a since
of security, as that was what we call "red neck" country and
there were some who hated them and their "race mixing".
They were harassed from time to time, nothing real serious
but enough to make them want to have some guns around.
That's gun country and the police is not always just a phone
call away either. Did you know Waco was once considered the
KKK capitol of Texas ? It's in the history books.
----------

As for the Dividians being not so normal, well have you ever
been to a Seventh Day Adventist Church , or say a Assembly of GOD,
( AKA ) "holy rollers". Lots of people would say they are
not normal either, but do we single them out for destruction.
I have those Jehovah Witness come by to visit me from time to
time, ( I sure love em too ) they don't visit to often as
I get em in the house and don't let em go to easy.
They are real nice people.
----------

The main difference in the Dividians is they lived a sort
of monastery life, ( I couldn't have done it ) to much
discipline and sacrifice of my worldly delights.
But I feel they had the right to do that if they wanted to,
and being the ATF has told so many lies I now have a hard
time believing much of what they say.
------------
All that aside I looked Koresh over some and figured I could
handle him, if not talk him out then I figured I could
have played lame duck till I got him alone &
tossed him out on his head. There wasn't shit about him
that scared me. I was worried about them kids a lot,
hell in this crazy world it's just by the grace of God
I didn't have some kids in there, that's what I could see.
---------------

He did have a reasposibility to surrender, but I don't think
he was able to realize it, I would have worked to his good
side to see if he understood the responsibility he had
assumed and that it meant he needed to surrender..
I would have been subtle ( at first anyway ) but used his
same bible to convince him he was meant to go in front of the court..and was not to fear it.
Koresh wasn't exactly Kosher in my books but the raid
was un-called for.
---------------
As for him saying he was Jesus Christ, when I have more time
I'll take his key sermom and disect it for you..it's just in
the style it's given that if your never went to an old bible
tumbing school it can be taken that way, but it's not intented
that way, just the same he was riddleculed about it so much at
times he'd get short and shove their words
back at them using sarcamism, which they had to know was
sarcaisam if they had a drop of sense. I feel they did know
it and just played it for all it was worth.

The ATF screwed up big time on this, worse was bringing in the
tanks. I don't know exactly whose call that was but they
gave every enemy we have or may have in the future a big
fat bone to use against us. For being big shots they sure
did some shallow thinking on that one. They knew the cameras
were there and it was being broadcast all over the world,
and what do you think the Chinese told their people about it?
Ha Ha look at what Amerika does to their own missionaries.
Man those tanks were stupid, with that kind of ignorance
how can I believe they know how to clean it up.
They had to be blind drunk on the opiate of power, and
for taht we will all pay.
Jim
