HP's Embedded Java Virtual Machine Gains Support

techweb.com

From the article:"...Three HP supporters -- Microware, QNX, and windriver -- are also licensees of Sun's embedded JVMs: PersonalJava for consumer devices, such as set-top boxes and smart phones, and EmbeddedJava for devices such as printers..."

Our management's response:"... Sun CEO Scott McNealy dismissed HP's JVM, saying HP had no business model for its own implementation..."

IMO this is just not acceptable....
====================================================================

Sun needs to rally around HWP and support their embedded JAVA protocol. The embedded JAVA standard still needs to be enhanced if end-users feel that it is necessary. SUN needs to continue to support the development of a "standard" along with HWP and other large partners (ie.IBM, 3COMS, Lucent, AT&T, CSCO, Scientific Atlantic, MOT. Nokia, Ericson etc.). Listen to your customers...software license fees should be secondary!
