No Ken, I don't think you are "nuts" at all. I can well understand the desire to place some money in a safe place even tho the income may be only 3.3%.

Fact is that 3.3% on an FDIC insured CD is not bad. My number one daughter was recently looking for a place to stash some money and the best she could get (for a minimum of $25k at a local bank) was just over 1%.

My wife is no fan of the stock market, something happens to me and I know she will sell all of our portfolios and live her remaining years on our cash. No much else she can really do, neither of us would trust a money manager to invest money and with us both in our 80's there is sufficient cash to last the remaining years, and on a factual basis there are a limited number of years after one crosses into the age 82 zone.

So 3.3% sounds really great to me and I think you made a very good move considering it is your "safe" money.
