Looks like if you're using an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) you're pretty safe. All of those spying programs rely on jailbreaking the device and/or using outdated versions of iOS for full functionality. Most don't work with iOS later than 9.1, so considering Apple just released iOS 11.0.2 and adoption rates are very high for all iOS releases, most users don't have to worry about this.

Apple have been very good about locking down security holes in the last couple of years and foiling jailbreakers.

One program does work with current versions, but only in a limited way and only if you have the person's iCloud password.

Bottom line: If you keep a good password on your iOS devices and iCloud account, you don't need to worry about this spying software. The NSA is another thing altogether. :-)
