Many carriers have an end-to-end IP network built on ATM because IP can't
support QOS.

We're supplying the right infrastructure for the future. Instead of ripping out
and replacing the infrastructure, you just layer new services on top.

We like the application-aware capability of their product. If there's an SAP
application running on the network, you can give it priority over Dungeons and
Dragons.

Quality is the big question.

1. Applications aware capability with Berekeley switches. This product and feature will generate tons of revenue, imo.
2. On IP Telephony, absolutely correct. In fact, imo, public IP telephony is just a hype and will never ever take off for the next ten years. Why? there are many reasons, but one simple one probably is enough, that is telephony for most of the rest of the world is control by Goverment or State run PTT and therefore free-riding (this is a big NO NO) bad quality IP based telephony will never ever get to be deployed. |
