Roche news -
my take of the Roche news is that they are open to do an acquisition or a merger of equals, as well as further looking to boost their pipeline by licensing.
A merger of equals for Roche is unheard of, since its effectively controlled by the founders family.
However recently, a 1:100 stock split was approved which could very well predecent an conversion of nonvoting into voting shares, with the family effectively loosing control.

I do not know what this means for DNA though, right now Roche is even more dependent on DNA, because its pipeline is fairly weak near term.

Roche has been an a acquisition spree before; buying privately owned Boehringer a few years ago with cash. They have worked down the debt with free cash flow and the windfall from the DNA IPO deal and now they feel they have to do something again.
