TraderTerry -- Companies don't "give out" earnings estimates. The estimating is done by the analysts. The more analysts who contribute to the consensus, generally the closer to the mark the estimates will be. CMGI still has rather uneven coverage from the Street and the range of estimates if you check your Zack's is all over the map, from plus .01 down to minus .38. The average of estimates from the 9 brokers/analysts covering CMGI was minus .16. CMGI came in at minus .30. Excluding the one-time charge of $4.5 million for the acquisition it would have been around minus .22/.23. Given the monumental accounting task involved in calculating quarterly numbers for this complex organization and the decisions to be made concerning tax issues and other matters I would have been surprised if CMGI had been in a position to preannounce anything meaningful.
