There is one compelling reason to think that different coding chemistries would matter. Life is a competition, red in tooth and claw. Individual chemistries nave their distinguishing kinetic profiles. (kinetics = the study of the speed of chemical transformations) Imagine two dogs fighting for the same pit, and assume they are well-matched for size and strength, but one was noticeably faster. Add the subtle, decorative nuance that winning dog eats the loser.
Chemistry matters.
