I think what you described is how WavoPhore expects to upgrade its WebTV software. WavoPhore is a Microsoft Partner that is shipping WebTV software in Win98. That kind of upgrade is very welcome at Microsoft. UI for getting upgrades on the web is built into Win98.

What is the danger you are talking about?
