(Reuters, 05/23/2000 09:07)

NEW YORK, May 23 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs analyst Deane Dray said Tuesday that Agilent Technologies Inc.'s (NYSE:A) upcoming distribution of shares would put near-term pressure on the stock.

-- said comments based on executives' presentations ahead of the June 2 distribution.

-- the move will complete spinoff of Agilent, a measurement and testing company, from computer maker Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HWP)

-- "We expect the upcoming stock distribution to continue to pressure the stock over the next several weeks."

-- said that "with regard to the unexpected operating loss in its healthcare segment, management confirmed that it would move to exit this business if the growth potential no longer measured up to its growth benchmarks."

-- kept recommended list rating and earnings estimates.

-- Agilent shares closed at 61-3/4.
