Morag, The brokerage will probably tell you its the same day. I've heard of this a number of times where someone is being told they have to put the account right by end of day. In this case with timing, anyone in this situation will get a phonecall on Monday. If you ask to speak to the credit department (call your broker) the odds are good you can arrange decent time to settle. I was in this situation about 2 years ago and I got 5 business days to clean it up. I mentioned to them what I was doing to cover it and they were very nice about it. (Incidently I sold about 1/2 the stock and covered the other half with cash - but before my time was up, the stock moved up sharply and I wouldn't have had to sell any. That was DMX.) Quite a shock today. The market maker I would have thought would be more active with a sudden drop from 3.05 to 2.60. Wolf
