I just had @Home service installed today. My machine is pretty loaded up and I've been having a few problems:

1) The boot time is now very long 2-5 minutes

2) Sometimes during boot, the system will shutdown and reboot.

3) @Home is not always immediately available. I get a message box with "retry" as one of the choices. I hit retry and it goes through right away.

4) A few times, I get into Windows98 and then I get a blue screen of death with a vxd error message.

5) The @Home tech had to give me a fixed IP address as DHCP didn't work when he tried it.

My theories are as follows:

1) My computer is very full (Abit BXR2 300a/450 w/ dual fans, ISA modem, two network cards, MX300 sound, V3 3000 video, slot fan, front fan, USB in use, Flash card reader stealing power from the keyboard connector). I think that I'm overwhelming my 250 watt power supply and that is causing the reboot and the blue screens of death. This is especially true in the first minute of bootup when both network cards are patching into the @Home network and my own network.

2) My D-Link network card and my SMC network card are arguing a little which delays the boot.

3) @Home takes a long time to "handshake" with my machine and let me on to the network which makes the boot time long.

Any thoughts (I'm going to try and replace my Power supply next week).

thanks,

Michael

4) Windows98 gets confused sometimes about what is the LAN connection
