Jefferson was the man who coined the phrase "a wall of separation between church and state." He claimed that the establishment clause in the First Amendment was just that, a wall of separation between church and state. He firmly believed that no man should be forced to pay taxes to support another man's religion.

So, no, I don't think he'd disapprove of purging religion from public schools.

I can't understand why religious schools don't have sliding scales to let poor students in. So many religions spend tons of money on less important things than educating the young.
