China's problem will be developing hard currency to buy their imported ag. products. Actually that is why Japan has always maintained a strong yen as the are resource deficient. They are the arch example of mercantilism and sooner or later one gets priced out of the market operating i this manner. I think though that Japan will come back after they get their bad loans fixed up. They are having what amounts to our S&L crisis presently and in time will export their way out of it as the yen reaches a competitive level worldwide.

I think your comments on Greenspan are interesting. In fact he might make these comments just to add liquidity to money supply. I can't see how these folks can rush in and out of the market and pay the short term taxes - it seems to be a guaranteed 28% haircut even if you time it right. Foe the big boys I understand it but for the little guy it is nuts.
