the difference may be in the amount needed to become addicted.

I haven't got into the pharmacology of the two. You know when they want to be negative about alcohol, they depict a bum on the corner. But people know most people who drink can function in society. They depict all Heroin users as "addicts," and this is no more true of them than it is of alcohol users.
