Resonate Ensures Performance of the Revolutionary Zaplet Communications Platform
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2000--Resonate
(Nasdaq:RSNT) today announced that its patented distributed software
has been chosen by FireDrop(TM) to assure and deliver maximum service
levels for users of the Zaplet Communications Platform(TM). The Zaplet
platform, which enables dynamic group communication and collaboration
via the web and email, will rely on Resonate Commander(TM) and
Resonate Central Dispatch(TM). These products, which are part of
Resonate's Internet Services Management (iSM) platform, provide
customers of Zaplet technology with continuous availability and
predictable performance for ensuring maximum service levels.
Resonate's iSM platform monitors all components of the e-business
infrastructure -- networks, systems, applications -- and then takes
immediate, preventative action to optimize service levels.
Zaplet technology allows multiple people to share information and
interact within a single message, through a combination of static and
dynamic content. The dynamic content, in which the interaction takes
place, is retrieved from a central server every time a Zaplet message
is opened or refreshed. Working behind the scenes, Resonate Commander
monitors the health of the multiple tiers of applications, networks
and systems that make up the Zaplet platform's comprehensive
e-business infrastructure, and then automatically drives real-time,
corrective action to ensure high availability and performance.
Resonate Central Dispatch continually assesses the status of servers
across the local area network (LAN) and then immediately directs
traffic to the most available resources.
"As we accelerate the growth and adoption of Zaplet technology in
the enterprise, it is critically important to deliver consistently
high performance and predictability," said Joe Pistritto, vice
president of operations at FireDrop. "We have selected Resonate's
software because of its unparalleled availability and performance,
proven track record, ability to scale and support of multiple
platforms."
"Zaplet technology will have a significant impact on the way
Internet users communicate and do business," said Karen Styres, vice
president of marketing at Resonate. "When placing a telephone call,
people pick up a phone and instantly hear a dial tone. Today,
customers expect the same quality of experience and rock-solid
reliability from their Internet services. FireDrop depends on Resonate
to provide them with the same level of consistency and reliable
response times."
