AFTERTHOUGHT: Are we witnessing a war between the mainstream media watchdogs and and the alternative media watchdogs? I'd call it a struggle, but one the mainstream media critics will lose. We've watched the Howie Kurtz's and so-called newspaper ombudsmen of the world circle the wagons for their liberal brethren once too often.


Maybe the MSM will lose, but not on this story, I bet. The MSM's desire to protect Democratic politicians pales in comparison with their desire to protect their own future careers, which Eason Jordan can offer. To be fair to Jordan, he has also won the loyalty of much of the press corps by caring for them and looking after them. They're not about to be dragged into attacking Jordan because a bunch of right-wing bloggers think they ought to do it.
