I agree with you that extreme ideas and incivility are not the same thing, and it's problematic to confuse them. There was a nice Wikipedia article which actually described and gave examples of the far left- I think it makes very good reading for anyone confused about what the far left actually is (for example, people who confuse fairly centrist democrats with the far left). en.wikipedia.org
