ROCKWELL SEMICONDUCTOR SYSTEMS
K56 Industry Update
WHAT: Rockwell will issue a press release and hold a briefing today via teleconference to provide an update about the shipping schedules and customer deployment plans for the company's K56 modem technology. Topics to be covered in the news briefing include:
-- Status of sample chip shipments, which shipped in January -- Product shipment schedules -- Field-testing plans -- Upgrade program -- Customer support and deployment plans
WHY: Rockwell is at the forefront of industry efforts to achieve broad-based interoperability between 56Kbps modems. Inteorperability standards have not yet been finalized for these modems, which only work at top speed when there are compatible units at both the user premises and his or her ISP or on-line service provider. Until then, users need to know what modem technology their ISPs are using, and whether it is compatible with their own 56Kbps units. Now that Rockwell is deploying 56Kbps chips to its customers, the company is committed to providing detailed information on these issues.
WHEN: Monday, February 3, 1997 Live teleconference: 11 a.m., Pacific standard time
