Hi Grannie,
Let me tell a little story about a brilliant woman who was the first person to achieve many things in her lifetime. She paved the way for many women who followed. She had a living will that included "do not resuscitate". She had a stroke late in life and my sister was in charge of her care for several years. As she became more dependent on care from others she was excited to go to a nursing home so she could be with others her own age. She passed one day and a heroic effort was made to save her. The nurses on duty at the time thought they would receive some sort of reward for saving this person in their care. When my sister was notified she was upset because her mothers wishes were not followed. Mom lived another six months of agony unable to speak.
Best,
