I think there is a mistake in the premise. I checked the NASDAQ 100 weightings and at most QCOM is 4.8% as of yesterday in theory. But there is some confusion in my mind over what its weighting is currently in the index since the NASDAQ 100 seems to be reweighted quarterly. So I do not know if the NASDAQ 100 has been reweighted to reflect QCOM's recent gains which took place after the quarter ended.

From the NASDAQ: "Launched in January 1985, the Nasdaq-100 Index represents the largest and
most active non-financial domestic and international issues listed on The
Nasdaq Stock Market© based on market capitalization. As of December 21,
1998 the Nasdaq-100 Index was re-balanced to a modified market capitalization
weighted index. Such re-balancing is expected to retain in general the
economic attributes of capitalization weighting while providing enhanced
diversification. To accomplish this, Nasdaq will review the composition of the
Nasdaq-100 Index on a quarterly basis and will adjust the weightings of Index
components using a proprietary algorithm if certain pre-established weight
distribution requirements are not met."
