CNN slams Trump for saying "NATO is very important to me."

Two can play this Fake News game, CNN.
First, what President Trump said to the Sunday Times of London and Der Bild:
"Countries aren't paying their fair share so we're supposed to protect countries but a lot of these countries aren't paying what they're supposed to be paying, which I think is very unfair to the United States. With that being said, NATO is very important to me." Trump also said:
"I said a long time ago NATO had problems. Number one it was obsolete, because it was, you know, designed many, many years ago. Number two — the countries aren't paying what they're supposed to pay. I took such heat, when I said NATO was obsolete. It's obsolete because it wasn't taking care of terror. I took a lot of heat for two days. And then they started saying Trump is right — and now — it was on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, they have a whole division devoted now to terror, which is good." So the President Trump was saying the opposite of obsolete. He was saying that he helped cause NATO to become relevant again in fighting terrorism.
In fact, Trump calling NATO obsolete in fighting terror was old news. The news now is that he no longer sees it as obsolete.
While he overlooked NATO's vast aid in defeating the Taliban in Afghanistan, I think it is a fair assessment.
But using partial quotes, CNN depicted Trump as a pawn of Putin who is about to give Russia Poland, the Baltic states, and Fulda.

Speaking in Berlin, Merkel shrugged off the interview, saying she would make no substantive comment before Trump was inaugurated. NATO said it was "absolutely confident" that the US would remain "committed" to the organization. Most people get that President Trump is negotiating with NATO to quit relying so much on the United States to protect the European Union. His statements are a bargaining position.
But Fake News CNN is pushing its anti-Trump agenda. Clumsily.
The lesson is simple. Before you react to a story quoting Trump, read the whole quote.
By the way, the Sunday Times of London is a revered publication, while Der Bild is its opposite.
