Off-hours trading:

Brokerages don't have to report all of their sales until 7:00 pm, which is why when you see the news or reports it usually states "The DOW was at...at 5:00 pm today..." Some brokerages will fill orders for favorite/preferred/volume clients from their own shares as well, and sometimes at much better prices than the average person. Usually at the expense of others who are less favored. The same is true pre-open starting about 8:00 am (at least that is the earliest I had a confirmation for, but that wasn't an online house).

To my knowledge it doesn't affect price trends at all, since they are sparse and better left for limit orders unless the broker on the other end of the phone is giving you a confirming price.
