I had my first "senior" moment on Friday. I stopped at a Burger King to buy a cup of coffee and read The Wall Street Journal. The counter clerk looked like he might still be in high school.

Glenn: A small cup of coffee, please.

Clerk: Okay.

The clerk picks up a cup and gives it to me.

Glenn: How much do I owe you?

Clerk: Nothing.

A puzzled Glenn: Why?

Clerk: Coffee is free for senior citizens.

Glenn, a mere 55-years old: Oh!

I was afraid to ask what the dividing line was for senior citizen status. I stopped by the same store yesterday and ordered coffee from a woman closer to my age bracket. She charged me full price for my coffee. Thank God.
