I guess this rules out JC, a little more than the Committee Chairman deal:
Ex-IBMer Cannavino takes top post at CyberSafe By Elizabeth Heichler InfoWorld Electric
Posted at 9:13 AM PT, Mar 24, 1998 Veteran IBM executive Jim Cannavino has taken the job of chairman and CEO of CyberSafe, the company announced Tuesday.
Cannavino spent 32 years at IBM before retiring from his post as senior vice president for strategy and development. He went on to join Perot Systems in 1995 as president and chief operating officer, and left that company last July.
Last year Cannavino was rumored to be on the short list of candidates for the CEO job at Apple. The Apple board's external executive search has not been successful, and according to reports in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal, it is sweetening its offer to entice interim CEO Steve Jobs to take the post permanently.
At CyberSafe, Cannavino will be responsible for strategy, day-to-day operations, and overall organization of the company, according to a statement released Tuesday.
"I am intrigued by CyberSafe's unique approach to developing security products and its ability to help customers realize the business-to-business and electronic-commerce implications of securing their networks," Cannavino said in the statement.
With its TrustBroker Security Suite, CyberSafe focuses on network security for intranets, extranets, and Internet-commerce efforts.
