Jim and anyone else. I need data on component costs!

I think Dell will actually make more as price cuts on components are higher than system pricing cuts.(Therefore no price war!) Selling more units as a result of the system price cuts will only add to Dell's bottom line.

I have data on Intel's recent chip cost reduction. I am looking for pricing on disk drives (WDC) and memory chips in addition to any other data you may have.

Here are the Intel figures.

Price Drops:

Pentium MMX

--233-MHz from $580 to $355.

--200-MHz from $470 to $235.

--166-MHz from $255 to $135.

Pentium II

--300-MHz from $1,981 to $830.

--266-MHz from $775 to $650.

--233-MHz from $636 to $520.

Pentium Pro: No changes.

Classic (Non-MMX) Pentium: Most will sell below
$100.
