I agree with your point. It should also be remembered that Israel is the founder and early financial backer of Hamas in an attempt to do an end run on Araraft and the PLO. Like Saddam, the animals always leave their cages:

SECURITY OFFICIAL: GAZA NOW 'ARMED TO THE HILT'

September 16, 2005

WorldNetDaily.com reports: “After four consecutive days of thousands of Palestinians – including known terrorists – passing unrestrained between Egypt and Gaza, militants have been able to smuggle tons of weapons into the Gaza Strip for use against Israel, security sources told WND.

‘Gaza is armed to the hilt,’ said a senior security official. ‘The Palestinians have now moved an enormous quantity of weaponry, including anti-tank missiles, explosives, ammunition, rocket propelled grenades and the like from Sinai into the Gaza Strip. They took complete advantage of the lack of any real security along the Egypt border.’

After Egyptian officials yesterday sealed up a hole in the border wall made earlier in the week by a controlled Hamas explosion, Hamas members last night reportedly rammed a dump truck into another area of the cement wall, knocking down several large slabs and once again opening the border. Palestinian and Egyptian officials stood by as thousands of Palestinians ran across both sides.

Egypt earlier pledged to restore order to the area and warned Palestinians it would impose border controls starting this past Wednesday that would require passports for entry and exit.

But as of late last night, the border crossing was wide open, and Palestinians were flowing in and out of both sides.

Egyptian guards this week even discovered a weapons-smuggling tunnel just south of the Rafah crossing point, which is directly adjacent to Gaza's former Jewish towns. Palestinian police reportedly confiscated 38 firearms and three rocket propelled grenades from the tunnel…”
