Re: IBM is more of a technology conglomerate than just a mainframe mfg. Did you note that services is growing +20% or better and has done so for the last umpty-ump quarters.

I believe IBM's vision is to be technology partners with their customers and help them negotiate the changeover to "network centric" computing.

Nobody questions their strong customer base (who is buying most of their PC's BTW). It has enabled them to become #1 or #2 in businesses accounting for 90% of their sales.

What everyone seems to have forgotten is that in their PR release on earnings they said the outlook for revenue growth from ALL areas continues to be strong.

All that said, they are different than INTC, MSFT, and CSCO. They are a value play in that they through off as much in depreciation as they log in profits. That cash flow enable them to buy back stock and push the eps way beyond the growth rate from revenue.
