There are several ways to make worthless stocks work for you. You can simply declare a stock worthless (Eutro fits that profile) and claim it as a loss, usually it's a decision made jointly between an investor and his accountant. If the stock comes back to life you can always go back and restate your tax return, it, a good faith decision and not illegal or sneaky.
