Many higher end professions are starting to get squeezed, my nephew works for a white shoe law firm that bills by the hour, and he just got downsized from an office to a cubicle, and told me there is increasing pressure from clients to bill by the job instead of by hourly time increments to save on those fat legal fees...

And this will happen to doctors, too. The question is whether or not it will happen naturally or by wage and price controls. I heartily subscribe to a shift in the earnings of doctors who install expensive stents rather than counsel patients to make the lifestyle changes that would obviate the need for stents. I oppose wage and price controls.
