Of the four switch companies you mentioned, (Brocade, Ancor, Gadzoox, and Vixel), only Brocade and Ancor were originally in the switch business. (Ancor was actually first with a fibre channel switch but focused on the LAN. When they changed focus to SAN they had fallen behind Brocade.) Vixel and Gadzoox are hub makers who only recently have tried to gain entry into the switch market. The majority of their revenues are still gleaned from selling hubs including VIXL's revenues from Sun. Ancor has the Sun OEM for switches.
