Finally... Game Convention Report

My brother finally turned his cellphone back on and gave me his report. Of course this report is all second hand... I'm going to drop by the convention myself this evening.

Convention floor pass $150 (ouch!) but my brother says that (and he goes to a lot of conventions) the convention floor was packed from the get go. He says at least 12 TV crews were covering the floor... and that doesn't include the ones chasing Gates.

Wave was not a big presense at the show... they have the smallest size booth available.

Speaking to the Wave salesman (didn't get his name) at the Booth my brother got a demonstration of purchasing a game using the wavedirect purchasing system. He thought that was way cool and had high utility. They had a mockup of the dongle to demonstrate (but it wasn't a real functioning dongle)... just something to show the size and concept to people. The salesman said that not only was the software purchased keyed to the dongle but had three different software locks to keep the material secure.

My brothers comment after talking to the salesman after about 20 minutes was that Waves focus right now was broadcast and the upcoming NAB convention and that the gaming convention wasn't exactly the principle push for the company right now (although still a important part of the overall company plan.)

Last comment... there's no question that Wave knows what's going on and watches comments at the RB board. Another wavoid was there (possibly Tsunami, but my brother wasn't sure he remembered the name.) The salesman was asking my brother what's going on on the board today (I could have said "Gnashing of teeth waiting for news and watching while day traders clear the stock for the weekend.") but my brother doesn't watch that close.

Anyway... I'll go myself later and get a first hand report. Everything looks good though for deployment and it sounds like Wave Systems (as usual) has their focus on what's important.
