kai, I'll comment on one item now and the rest later.
I prdicted months ago that retail inventory would be up in stores.

But, i also, predicted that BTO would or could raise inventory for a while too in the business model.
It's best to have the extra inventory in the system then start to drop and and work the problems out as the redcued inventory exposed the problems.
This is std. TQM/JIT methodology... rather than just drop inventory and your process don't allow it..
but, cpq's goals are not just dealer inventory drops but vendor inventory.
When the vendors start supporting the electronic supply system, then cpq will expect that vendor and delaer to drop inventroy THROUGH IMPROVED PROCESSES... MAYBE YOU HAVE HEARD OF CPQ'S DETAIL VENDOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM THAT it is pretty good if you get a 70 on it.
much less a 80 or 90.
