passx2, Networking is on the DOS stage. We need a "MAC" of the networking. Just plug and play. Get rid of 'support'. No IT guys running around to enalble you to use a printer if you move offices.

We have a couple of rooms full from bottom to ceiling with boxes with green LED's blinking and an spaghetti of cables. They are usually squeezed somewhere in a corner. Always an afterthought.

One day perhaps with a Next Next generation (the one that dealt away with legacy) I could move offices and login into a company who holds all those boxes accross town, or accross country, enter my name, password and have three types of configurations. Like when you buy clothes (L, M, S). Choose one and wait for the computer to reconfigure itself. (Perhaps listening to Ringo Starr's 'It don't Come Easy' while the machine does its job.)

As long as we keep the boxes and the spaghetti of cables and the 'support' in house, no one is going to develop the "MAC" of the networking.
