Why is a discussion of the possible mental illness of Terri Schiavo's parents disgusting exactly?

As I recall, Ionesco had mentioned that parents of children who die or are severely disabled have high rates of mental illness. We can see from the media coverage that the Schindlers have two other vital, alive, children, and yet the whole family has been in mourning for fifteen years. To me, it seems somewhat like the classic example of how when there is one very ill child in the family, that child gets almost all the attention and the siblings are short changed.

I don't see anything disgusting about talking about mental illness or family dynamics. It was a psychological discussion, really. Certainly the intent was not mean spirited, like, let's say, the Schindler family's allegations that Michael Schiavo murdered their daughter/sister, a claim they make constantly on television news programs.
