RE: "My point was that anyone who thinks Intel will be platform neutral as a hosting vendor is probably a good candidate to buy the brooklyn bridge. My bet is that they will push their own platforms as aggressively as they can."

Hi Rudedog,

I think your premise (that they'll push their own stuff) is wrong. I think they'll push whatever is the best product, or, in the scenario where the customer asks for a specific vendor solution then I would expect them to provide whatever the customer asks (which is what you had said, so on that later principle we concur).

edit: I think it is always better to make a product company (or a product division) compete internally for business, in order to increase competitive pressures which in turn ensures an environment for fostering the best competitive product, which is much better for the long-term.

Short-term pain is better for long-term gain. Enabling internal competition is like a parent letting their child deal with some of their own issues in life (rather than giving too much support which could prevent them from facing some of life's challenges and growth opportunities), so, by letting natural competition take place, I believe Intel would be much better for it the long-term.

Regards,
Amy J
