JD,

You are welcome. I only wish I had something more positive to report.

I'll continue to post those things I can.

Just two weeks ago I learned that plans to import smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles from the European arm of Ford have been greatly reduced. This is of course a response based on the decline in oil and the urgent need to preserve capital. They will still bring a couple of programs to the States, but the big push to move five or six platforms is no longer on the table.

I guess they think 2 dollar gas is here to stay, forever, again.

I have no plan. I'll certainly post if and when the time comes that my company closes North American automotive operations. The company has more than 90% of global sales in non-automotive, so we are not under the same pressures that many suppliers face. And even with the terrible market conditions, the company recognizes that much of the advanced engineering for China and other emerging markets is still driven by GM North America. There is value in maintaining a small presence in Detroit, even if sales continue to decline.

I may leave anyway, as there is something I want to do on the west coast, and I'm not getting any younger.

Thanks and GT
TH
