Before you write off net advertising consider how you feel about Television or print advertising. They are a nuisance!
In advertising being a nuisance is good!. The real problem with net ads is that they are not enough of a nuisance.
For right or wrong a big part of broadband will be that the ads will be more of a nuisance. Why shouldnt broadband go the way of television-- everything is free as long as you are willing to have x minutes per day worth of video advertising. Same ads as TV even for the unimaginative companies. Noone forces you to watch of course, but then you dont have to watch TV ads either. Even better use SI as a model-- free if you want ads or you can pay not to get them.
Someday it will be this way. Someday broadband will be television too.
