in an opinion piece in Monday's New york Times a writer projects that in the next several years there will be a glut of network availability due to overbuilding FO networks and that telecom companies will be hurting as a result of prices being driven down. Excerpt: "In other words, a dial tone -- or, to be specific, the availability of too many such tones -- could be the sound that ends the investment boom in communications technology." See nytimes.com you may need to subscribe to the Internet edition of the NYT to get this opinion piece by "EDITORIAL OBSERVER" Implications or comments anyone, especially re whether or not there will be such huge overcapacity, or will new needs tap into the available networks and thus obivate the overcapacity?
