Hi Method,

A historical note of interest. As most people are aware, the price of gold was fixed at $35/oz during the period 1934 to 1968. Gold production in Canada peaked at 183 tons in 1941 at which time there were 278 operating gold mines. That number declined to 14 by 1975 which was directly atrributable to unprofitable operations and most importantly to the lack of any sifnificant exploration over a 35 year period.
