When you discover just how important the use of visualization and audio are becoming in day-to-day usage I think you will soon change your tune. MMX is playing an increasingly important role in everything from computer telephony to videophone to voice recognition to multimedia e-mail. The problem is the legacy PCI bus which AMD has finally managed to deliver a 166 Mhz processor for. Good luck to them. Without exaggeration, and perhaps as an understatement, we are indeed in the tube-based radio phase of computing and we are about to leap past the television and color television phases into broadcast digital services, literally. There is no freaking way the legacy socket 7 can ever meet the processing requirements.
