Yaacov,

Slobo is using the "talk and fight" strategy used by
Ho Chi Mihn during the Viet Nam war. The Vietnamese
came to the table about 10 times offering all kinds
of concessions, talking peace, and making offers. Their
real success came on the ground in the form of very
tough jungle warfare. The problem that the Serbs have
is that their air defenses have proven to be good in
the close range but not so great for high altitude bomber
take out. I think that as long as the pain for NATO is
mostly financial, they can continue for a long time.
The problem for the Serbs is that they are getting hammered
on the ground. In todays LA Times they had a photo of
a B-52 drop on a village. That was a string of 50 MK-82
500 lb bombs right onto a village in Kosovo. That had
to hurt. It appears that NATO is willing to destroy Kosovo
in order to save it.
