Here is a URL to the LA Times article today about a group of start ups are going to kick Cisco's butt.
latimes.com
It would warm the hearts of the Ascend and Fore engineers on the Cisco thread. (I pulled my bookmark to that thread because of the noise over there.)
We watch Cisco in action, but I would love to know their inside policy on new advances in the IP and telecom market. They obviously are buying the best technology companies they can get. Do they buy a "Basket", so that they don't get caught out, or, are they trying to buy the one item they think best?

Is it possible that one of these start ups will have a major breakthough and become a "Gorilla" in its own right? We don't want to get too complacent. Remember, everyone thought the Cell phone market was decided before Qualcomm came along.

OT: Mike, I am not teaching my grandson a damn thing about financial investments, But, when you teach an 8th grade boy how to dance, you take a timid kid who would not talk to girls into a "Cock of the walk" who will be strutting his school hallways next year with an adoring group of "wannabee" girls following him!
