Newbridge Networks LMDS Solution Honored by
International Engineering Consortium: Newbridge
Broadband Wireless Access Solution Captures Second IEC InfoVision
Award

ATLANTA, GEORGIA--SUPERCOMM'99, June 7, 1999 - Newbridge Networks (NYSE: NN - news; TSE: NNC -
news) today announced that its comprehensive local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) broadband wireless solution has
received the 1999 International Engineering Consortium (IEC) InfoVision Award in the wireless category. The IEC
InfoVision Awards recognize the year's most innovative information industry products and services based on their versatility,
uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits and value to society.

The Newbridge(r) asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) Radio Interface Card (ARIC), an integral component of the
Newbridge LMDS solution, received the IEC InfoVision Award in 1998.

''The IEC InfoVision Award recognizes leading edge technology that has a positive impact on the growth and enhancement
of the telecommunications industry,'' said John Janowiak, forum director, IEC. ''The industry leadership and vision
demonstrated by Newbridge in the development of its fully managed broadband wireless solutions for LMDS clearly earns
this recognition.''

''Newbridge is proud to have the superiority of our LMDS solution recognized by the IEC,'' said Conrad Lewis, executive
vice president, Access Products Group, Newbridge Networks. ''As our worldwide LMDS customer base continues to
grow, the support and recognition of respected industry organizations confirms our leadership in the broadband wireless
industry.''

Newbridge today announced as well that it has been selected by Tri Corners Telecommunications as its strategic networking
vendor for the deployment of an LMDS network. Tri Corners is the fifth U.S. LMDS licensee to select the Newbridge
broadband wireless solution, following announcements with Gateway Telecom, South Central Telcom, Home Telephone
Inc. and Central Texas Communications. Newbridge has also announced it is supplying LMDS networks to Canadian
nationwide spectrum holder MaxLink Communications Inc. and Korea Telecom, the world's eighth-largest
telecommunications company. The solution has also received the Data Communications magazine Hot Product Award.

The comprehensive Newbridge broadband wireless solution for LMDS represents a multiservice network comprising base
station and customer premise equipment. A base station, consisting of the industry leading Siemens / Newbridge
MainStreetXpress(tm) 36170 Multiservices Switch and point-to-multipoint transmitters and receivers, is the central location
that collects all traffic to and from customers within a given wireless coverage area. It is also the linking point between the
customer and the network backbone. Customer premise equipment includes transceivers and network interface units
(NIUs), which support a full range of services. The MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager fully manages both the
wireless and wireline portions of the network, providing a full range of billing, statistics and maintenance support.

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) is a cooperative, public service organization dedicated to positive change in
the information industry and university communities. For more than 50 years, the IEC has provided educational opportunities
for industry professionals, university professors, and promising students. Executives from throughout the industry continue to
