The thing is, Marco/Ben, it looks like K7 at its introduction may only achieve a slight edge in performance over Pentium III. That's not bad, but it sure falls short of the promise of "seventh-generation technology."

Part of the problem is that the K7 infrastructure is immature right now because of chipsets, lack of on-die L2 cache, manufacturing concerns like the transition to the 0.18 micron process, etc. Once the infrastructure reaches the maturity of the P6 infrastructure, then we can really see the K7 take off. But how long will that take?
