Hi Mike:

If I remember correctly, AOL struck a deal with Hughes a
few weeks ago.

With respect to terrestrial wireless, keep in mind that
WCII, TGNT, ARTT, NXLK all serve business customers, not
residences. Note that broadband wireless services are
unregulated (no monopoly exists), so AOL will never
be able to get a judge to open this market for them.
I can only speculate why AOL has not yet forged an
alliance with a broadband terrestrial wireless company,
but the reasons are probably: a) broadband terrestrial
wireless is not a mass market yet, b) the leader, Winstar,
has already a successful ISP operation which it might spin
off or monetize in the form of a tracking stock.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
